Cookies....

With Christmas come and gone I've now got back in to my rotation - last week I worked on Come to the Dark Side .. Darth Vader is slowly coming to life.  He'll be back in a few weeks.

This week I'm working on my Chatelaine - picture of that will follow in Wipocalpyse sum up. Just sorting out what is going in to my rotation for 2013 - pretty much what was in it in 2012 lol!  Maybe a couple of new starts though just to shake it up a bit...

No work now till 3rd January and wet and windy weather means plenty of quality stitching time.  Excellent stuff.

Wishing you all a happy new year.. to all who stopped by in 2012, thanks very much!

Christmas

So this year I decided to take part in a couple of Christmas ornament exchanges. One with Kate from Momubocrea Island  and one with Ruth from Friendly Stitchers.  Both of these are now hanging proudly on my tree - thanks ladies!

 From Ruth to me

From Kate to me - love the little chocolate Santa in his stocking (I have to own up though that Santa is no longer with us but was very tasty .. )

Sent out from me

So now that Christmas stitching has been done normal service is resuming with getting back into my rotation and getting my new year SAL sorted for The Stash, Stitch and Honking Raketeers Group (facebook group).  Am going with HAED Mini Sea of Roses

Mini Sea of Roses

- can't wait to get started on it.

Have also realised that we are nearly at the end of our WIPOCALYPSE for 2012 (that has shot by fast!) so will be back after Christmas with a round up of my stitching year..

September WIPacoplyse/IHSW/General catch up..

Okay I know we are in the middle of October but this is technically my Sept WIPacolypse post - the days are just running away from me.. I am sure a lot of you know what I mean..

This is also going to be my pre-IHSW post as well, I have a wee sneaky day off work today as it the kids October holidays this week so planning on some extra stitching time especially as dh Lee is at work, ds Neve is at her friends and ds Joe has a new lego set so I won't see much of him.

During September we got a night away with the family down to Blackpool and spent the day at the Pleasure Beach - Neve and Lee had great fun on all the big rollercoasters including The Big One (though Lee did look a bit shook up when he got off that lol!) but me and Joe took a gentler route and stuck to the more sedate rides .  I put my hands up - I am a total wimp when it comes to theme parks! Just looking at some of them makes me feel sick let alone go on them... attempted to see the Illuminations at night but hadn't reckoned on them being quite so popular, had to abandon as we were all pretty tired by then.  Definitely fancy going back to Blackpool for a couple of days though next time.

Stitching wise I have been chugging away on my HAED QS Twilight Shimmer and hope to get a page finish this weekend..

As of today

I've also been stitching on Part 5 of Chatelaine White Nights - there are 8 buildings to do, so far I've managed 1 and started another - every time I think I am getting somewhere I find another little bit to do, I was hoping to have part 5 finished this year but this not looking realistic at the moment.

I started a new start as well - Darth Vader Cookies - which is a freebie from here, Dork Stitch.  Hope to get this finished up for Christmas for my star wars/lego daft boy. Stitched on gorgeous sparklies "before the storm".

I took part in the first part of the All Hallows Exchange over on the HAED Addiction facebook group - received a couple of charts which I was so pleased with and planning to do it again on halloween.

I am definitely planning a new start in the new year but it's going to be hard to decide what though.

Hope you all have a very stitchy weekend..always appreciate your comments.

Olympic/Holiday stitching

Well it is hard to believe that after all the build up  that the 2012 Olympics have been and gone.. I am so pleased though that I took my leave over those two weeks as I just couldn't get enough of them, though at times it was all getting a bit too much emotionally lol!  Well done team GB  though - you did your country proud.  Roll on 2014 when the commonwealth games are coming to Glasgow, definitely  need to get me some tickets for that..

I did leave the house at some points though, we did a couple of day trips with the kids. Headed down to The Cocoa Bean Factory which I think the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Chocolate  heaven...

Also went over to Edinburgh for the day which was fun but very busy as the festival is on and it was actually  hot. Can't remember ever being in Edinburgh  before when it was warm...

Looking over to the Scottish Parliament and Calton Hill in the distance

As for stitching I finished page 1 of my Haed QS Rapunzel.. feeling very pleased with myself for that as it was one of my goals for this year. I am desperate to start another haed but have decided that can only have three on the go at a time or they will never get done..

This week has been smalls week so dug out a biscornu I started back in the midsts of time ...this is my first go at one, really quite pleased with how it turned out.. (this is an adaptation of Victoria Sample's Jazz Tuffet pincushion, same on both sides)

Off for my morning walk now, I think a stroll down the beach seems in order.  Thanks for stopping by.

Mirabilia

Last week I worked on my Maidens of the Season spring - I am so loving stitching this but decided to put it down to work on one of my haeds over the next couple of weeks - if finishing was an olmpyic sport I am afraid I wouldn't be getting any gold medals soon lol..

Finished up at work on Friday there for a couple of weeks, so far so nice - just pottering about and pretty much wall to wall olympic watching going on, this is proving well for stitching time thankfully.

Spent a nice day shopping in Glasgow with dd Neve yesterday - managed not to spend too much money! Planning on painting my bedroom next week (or more likely just buying the paint..)  and very excited as getting new bedroom doors fitted over the weekend.  We have been in this house for 9 years now and this will be the first time we actually have had a door in every room that you can actually close - it's these little things that make me happy lol!

Leave you with a picture of my mirabilia wip..

Chatelaine week

This has been my Chatelaine  week in my rotation. Working on part 4 of White Nights
In St Petersburg.   Maybe another week to get this part done..

This has been keeping me company in the evenings/afternoons while being glued to the Tour de France - only one more stage to go, go Bradley!!!

Only this coming week at work and then off for two glorious weeks - not going anywhere fancy, just a few day trips here and there and watching as much of the Olympics as I can.  Sounds like a might fine holiday to me.

July wipacolypse

Ok a few days late but still July.  Worked on in June was my haed  twilight shimmer and by the bay SAL.

Here's where I am at with Twilight...

and her is my finished SAL - isn't this is adorable, so summery - thanks to Donna at By the Bay for this fantastic freebie

SAL/rotation

Came across the SAL being run on the By the Bay Needleart Blogspot and just couldn't resist taking part - so far have got to part 3, will work on it again next week.. just loving all the colours in it, at least something is summery around here.

Have changed up rotation a little so that I am just concentrating on four different pieces. One week on my chatelaine , one week on mirabilia , one week on smalls and two weeks on my haeds.. these last few days it's been my QS Twilight Shimmer, here's where it's at

Off to watch me a bit of wimbledon..come on Andy

busy busy

Well this last week has been a bit busy for us all - we spent the weekend down at The Trafford Centre at Manchester which turned out to be really good fun.  Now a shopping centre is not normally where I would choose to spend a weekend but we were well impressed with all it had to offer.

The main reason for going was that I had won tickets a good while back for a couple of the attractions there, namely Legoland Discovery Centre and Aerial Extreme, so we booked a couple of cheap nights in a local premier inn and decided to make a stay out of it.

As you can imagine my 8 year old lego daft boy was delighted with the Discovery Centre, but primarily the shop lol..  he couldn't spend his money quickly enough.

after that we took headed to the Aerial Extreme course which is a treetop obstacle course.  Now I will hold my hands up and admit I am a total wuss when it comes to these things, and I opted not to take part (I didn't like roundabouts as a child, there is no way you would be getting up on something like that lol!) .   DD Neve and DH Lee did decide to go for it, Neve went round as if she was taking a stroll, zipwires the lot - Lee made it round but had a bit of a wobble over the first zipwire - I was trying to film him while not peeing myself laughing .... (which is a bit of a cheek on my part when I wouldn't even try it!) but all in all they thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Other than that we visited the shops, ate well, went to see Snow White and The Huntsman and spent loads..

Also last week it had been my DD's P7 prom  - a great wee night was had by all..

June WIPocalypse

Well we have hit the half way mark and so far I have made a nice wee dent in my WIPs.  I managed to miss out May's post altogether - you know how these things go, days blend into weeks, blend into months and oops we are in June already..

So since my last post I have worked on the following:

HAED QS Siberian Forest

HAED QS Rapunzel

Chatelaine White Nights in St Petersburg

No up to date picture - will do that when next it shows it's face in my rotation.

and started and finished Bent Creek June Zooms (go me, yay!!)

the sun has got his hat on

It's been a glorious week her in my little bit of Scotland and it looks like it is going to last all weekend, best make the most of it - this may actually be our summer lol!

Following IHSW last weekend I had a little finish

Before                                                                            After

Will try my best to actually get this finished up in time so I can hang it up at my work ready for next week.

My dd and I also completed our Midnight Walk for The Ayrshire Hospice and I raised a good wee bit so feeling quite pleased-my legs weren't feeling quite so pleased though come Sunday morning...

For the rest of the month of the month going to concentrate on my HAED QS Siberian Forest. This is where I am starting off from - my plan for this year was to have page 1 of this finished - need to get a bit of a shift on me thinks...

Hope you all have a good weekend! I'm planning a bit of soaking up the sun and it's Eurovision on Sat night - always fun to watch..

Solar system revisited

It's the third Friday of the month so that means it is IHSW again - I'm joining in this month as I have a nice relaxing weekend ahead of me with plenty of potential stitching time just interrupted by a 9 mile walk round Ayr in the middle of Sat night.. definitely having a lie-in on Sunday after that.  I'm planning to work on Bent Creek June Zooms - here's my start

Now the exciting bit of last week for me was receiving my Solar System piece back in the post .. I had commissioned the delightful Mouse to finish it up into a pillow for my ds Joe and she duly obliged and here is the end result and I couldn't be happier - it looks fab
and here is Joe testing it out

Thanks for stopping by, always appreciate it.

May day

Okay catch up time

Stitching
Been very good and keeping pretty much to my rotation - have worked a bit more on my Mirabilia Maiden - she now has a head but no eyes - like to leave bringing her to life until it is all complete.

I've had a finish with my CCN Joy - this was a nice quick finish, don't know whey i hadn't stuck with it at the time - why does that happen, it was literally a couple of days work to do on it but it had been cast aside - I'm sure i had a good reason at the time, just can't remember why lol...

Now working on my HAED Rapunzel - maybe next month I'll get started on her hair - yay.. after all that is what Rapunzel is all about.  I picked up another HAED recently - Mini Sister Moon - it was while there was a 30% sale and just couldn't resist.

I also had a nice surprise in the post this week in the form of a portable Daylight lamp, won from a Crossstitching.com competition. It's well smart!

Non-stitchy stuff
Myself and my dd Neve (and her friend) are taking part in our local Midnight Walk in May - we're doing the 9 mile walk as i reckon that is enough for all of us.  This is to raise money for The Ayrshire Hospice which provides hospice care here in Ayr. I have set up a fundraising page via Just Giving and any support given for this would me much appreciated.

I now need to get off my backside and do a bit of walking before hand - with this in mind I have added a weight loss page on here to try and keep me motivated - I plan to check in each Sunday to plot my progress and how that week has gone - good or bad! I'm hoping that putting it out here will help it be good every week.. here goes

If anyone wants to join me in this please feel free. The more the merrier.
